Villa
Isella is located on a private south facing hillside park setting in the pre-Alps
between Lake Como and Lake Lugano, and overlooks the nature preserve
of Lago di Piano. Its location, scenic views, and luxury make it an
ideal home base from which to explore all of the Italian Lake District, the Ticino
Canton of Switzerland, the Italian and Swiss Alps, and cities such
as Como, Milan, Lugano, Luzern, and Zurich.
The
Villa dates from the mid-17th century, with a private chapel dedicated
to Saint Blaise (Blasius) built c. 1740. It was the property of Count
Borromeo, a relative of St. Charles Borromeo, and the center of
a large agricultural economy until the twentieth century. In the 1960s
and 1970s, it was home to the artist d'Acardi.
Villa Isella was completely modernized into 17 apartments in 2000 and 2001, the park landscaped, and a swimming pool installed. Yet the Villa retains a sense of history and old-style beauty and quality.
The smoke-free and pet-free apartment is on the first floor (Primo) (second floor in U.S. parlance).
The Villa's swimming pool is open during the summer season. Directly next to the apartment is the Villa Isella Chiesa. It is a beautiful little church owned by the residents of Villa Isella. One time a year it is used by the community for the celebration of its saint. |
